Does Tailwind Help Engagement on Instagram?

When you hear “Tailwind,” you might think of Pinterest. That is because Tailwind is an industry-leading Pinterest scheduling tool. Tailwind has an Instagram tool now so I am testing it out so that you don't have to.

Note: I use to love Tailwind for Pinterest. I need to go back and use it with fresh pins to see if it is still worth it!

I decided to get Tailwind for Instagram in order to find my ideal posting times and get better hashtags.

Ideal Posting Schedule

Tailwind provides you with a personalized, recommended posting schedule.

Once you connect your account to Tailwind, you tell them how often you want to post per day. Tailwind will analyze data from your account to decide when it’s best for you to post. I set my scheduler for two (2) times a day. Not because I wanted to post that often but because I wanted two (2) optimal times to chose from for when I do post.

Before Tailwind, I was posting between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. EST. I was surprised to see 6:00 p.m. timeslots on my schedule as "optimal times."

You can override the schedule if you want and set it yourself. However, I am trying to use their suggested times to see if it will boost my engagement.

Instagram Hashtag Help

Tailwind also provides you with hashtag help. I wrote a whole post on hashtag tips. However, it can still be hard to tell which hashtags are working and giving you the reach you need for your post to do well.

This is where Tailwind comes in with the hashtag help.

As you are creating your posts in Tailwind, Tailwind will suggest hashtags for you, based on the hashtags and caption you have provided. They are color-coded to tell you which hashtags are the best quality. There are four categories: niche, good, best, and competitive.

Niche is a hashtag that is specific to just that, a niche.

Hashtags that are labeled as “competitive” are your high volume hashtags. You want to avoid these hashtags unless you are a bigger account.

I like to click on the "best" hashtags suggested by Tailwind and add them to my post or "first comment." Tailwind will continue to suggest more hashtags that will help your post.

You can add them or hit the "refresh" button to get more suggestions.
