A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD
Taking My Sister To College
My mom and I recently took a trip to Des Moines, Iowa in order to enroll my sister, Bailey, into Drake University. Boy, what a trip it was! When we first got there, we immediately noticed that the city had a welcoming “small town feel.” The vibe there felt quaint, modern, and lively all at the same time. Des Moines is a busy little city filled with persona. What amazed me the most was the city’s ecotourism. There are expansive trials that you can bike, walk, run or workout in. In fact, there are over 600 miles of trials that surround designated green spaces, lakes, and well used parks.
In addition, Des Moines, the capital of Iowa, is sprinkled with murals, art installations, architecture, and one-of-a-kind restaurants. During our stay, we stayed at the Embassy Suites located along the river walk downtown. This is one of my favorite chains of hotels because of its amenities. Listen, they have an OPEN BAR at night and a superb Breakfast Bar that includes an “eggs your way” station. Since we were so close to downtown, we visited the capital building, walked along river walk, and saw some cute boutiques that were tucked away in the corners of the city.
We, of course, took our own tour of Drake University. The university is breathtaking. It is located on 150 acres of land. Unique restaurants, museums, and other attractions surround the campus. Bailey picked Drake because she felt like 1) God was calling her there 2) the pre-med program is wonderful and 3) the city offers excellent internships for students. I am so incredibly proud of the young woman my sister is becoming. I love her tremendously and am excited to see the great and vast success she will achieve in the upcoming years.
We love Drake University, however, it is quite challenging financially. Our family believes in the power of education and giving each child the tools necessary for success. Thus, we are doing everything in our control to keep her at Drake. If you would like help us, please feel free to click the link below. It will take you to a Go Fund Me account entitled “Bailey’s Tuition Fund.” Bailey has set this up herself and wrote a note to all of you. Your donations will be a great help and be strictly used to assist her academic needs. We thank you in advance for your contributions!
Until Next Time,
Tay
