3 SUBSTITUTIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO VEGANIZE YOUR HOLIDAY DISH

This year was filled with ups and downs. The only thing that remained consistent was my healthy skin.

How do I get my skin to glow? I eat vegan!

Studies show that there is a link between dairy and acne-prone skin. Hand to God – and I do not play with God – my skin turned into #melaningoals after I ditched animal products and became vegan.

Transitioning into veganism can be hard, especially during the holiday season. If you want to skip the dairy this month and save your skin, we have some alternatives you can use while you are cooking! Disclaimer: We get asked about vegan alternatives to common household ingredients all the time. This post, therefore, is long overdue.

Check out our 3 substitutions that you can use to veganize your classic holiday dish. Save your skin and the animals!

Substitution #1….(hover over the picture to find out!)

Mashed

Avocado

Avocado

Does your holiday dessert have way too much fat in it? You can veganize and make it a million times healthier by replacing half the amount of fat with equal amounts of smashed avocado.

When you sub avocado for butter in any baking recipe you reduce the fat percentage by 40%! Tip: Be sure to decrease your oven temp and keep a careful eye over those goods.

Substitution #2….(hover over the picture to find out!)

Bananas

You can do a lot with bananas. In baked goods, you can mash them up and use as an egg substitution.

We love to use the versatile fruit as a quick alternative to ice cream. It is by far our favorite way to eat bananas.

To make “nice” cream, cut up and freeze one banana until it is solid. Blend in a Magic Bullet or any other high-powered food processor until smooth. It comes out creamy like ice cream! You can sprinkle cocao nibs or coconut shreds on top. You can even blend your protein powder into the mixture!

Substitution #3

Flax egg

You do not have to use eggs when you bake.

To replace one egg mix 1 Tbsp of flaxseed meal and 2 ½ Tbsp of water. Let it rest for 5 minutes to thicken. Voila, you are done! This vegan alternative works well in pancake, brownie, muffin and cookie recipes. If the dish calls for more than one egg, double the recipe.

Have you tried these substitutions before? If not, which one are you willing to try? Let us know in the comments below!

Products details of my outfits are below as well.

Until Next Time,
